Celebrating Intern Appreciation Week 2024
Our inspired interns have worked on key initiatives — from food-forward recipes to facility upgrades — that will impact the company for years to come.
In a gesture of appreciation, Hormel Foods invited all interns to Austin, Minnesota, this week for Intern Appreciation Week, where they shared details about their experiences through presentations and had opportunities to tour the facilities located at the World Headquarters.
On Wednesday, interns spent their day networking with each other during team-building activities and heard from a panel of executives in the afternoon. At the invitation of the local United Way, interns wrote notes of encouragement for student meal bags and seniors in the community. They then spent the evening networking with members of Hormel Foods employee resource groups while enjoying great appetizers, drinks and music at the SPAM® Museum.
Thursday was another celebration-filled day, with interns attending a grill-out put on by the cafe team and engaging with executives. They also were treated to an address by CEO Jim Snee, who reminded everyone we have a responsibility as a company to give back to the communities where we live and work. Motivated by that message, the group assembled 4,000 snack packs for people in need with the MATTER organization. They included some of our very own products — Corn Nuts® corn kernels, Justin’s® nut butter squeeze packs and Skippy® peanut butter squeeze packs among them. In addition, the Spammy® and Skippy® mascots made special appearances.
