Hormel Foods unveils FONTANINI® Hot Honey Sliced Sausage as the Popularity of Hot Honey on Pizza Continues to Soar

The Foodservice division at Hormel Foods is ‘taking heat somewhere sweet’ with the launch of its latest trend-forward topping, which debuts at International Pizza Expo later this month.

Hot honey has long been a relevant talking point for pizzaiolos, as more and more pizza establishments are incorporating hot honey into their menus and offerings. Hormel Foods, a known innovator in the pizza space, naturally took notice of this increasingly “hot” trend, and the company’s Foodservice team took it from there with the development of FONTANINI® Hot Honey Sliced Sausage, which debuts later this month at the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas.

Bold and deliciously simple, this new product is “taking heat somewhere sweet,” bringing intrigue to any pizza pie with an authentic, hand-crafted appearance and scratch-made taste.

Hot honey has emerged as the fastest growing ingredient on pizza, and the makers of the FONTANINI® brand are responding in kind with a product that marries the spicy sweetness of hot honey with the premium quality of FONTANINI® hand-crafted sausage, together in one satisfying bite.

“Hot honey has been exploding in the pizza space,” said Patty Riedl, director of Foodservice marketing at Hormel Foods. “We’re really excited to jump on this trend and be able to offer a solution that captures the hot-honey craze in product form and delivers the flavor that operators are seeking.”
