A Good Leader
The diversity of our board is very important to Hormel Foods to ensure a wide range of perspectives and backgrounds are involved in decision-making. Our Board of Directors includes 13 members who bring a multiplicity of skills, talents and backgrounds to their roles.
Of the 13 members, 10 are independent. Evaluating the Board of Directors is the responsibility of our Governance Committee, which currently is comprised of five independent directors who meet the independence requirements of the New York Stock Exchange. Some of their responsibilities include identifying and making recommendations for qualified individuals to sit on the board, annually assessing the effectiveness of the board against the company’s objectives and monitoring compliance with the governance principles.
