Production Management

RESPONSIBILITIES: Hormel Foods has exciting opportunities for Production Supervisors in our operations facilities on second shift. Production Supervisors are responsible for the success of a department in one of our manufacturing plants and manage approximately 15-30 employees leading them to achieving the safety, productivity and quality goals. This includes scheduling products, coordinating transportation and supplies, verifying daily inventories, enforcing company policies, planning monthly meetings, and motivating employees. Production Supervisors make all departmental decisions. It is like running your own business within a business.

TRAINING: Approximately six weeks will be spent in a training environment before being promoted to a department. The training program consists of partnering with other managers to learn about our products, the company, and industry dynamics. Seminars at our corporate headquarters in Austin, MN will include presentations by our different divisions to increase product knowledge, company knowledge, and leadership skills. Most operations managers begin their career on the second shift in one of our larger manufacturing facilities in the upper Midwest in our Austin, MN, Fremont, NE, or Osceola, IA plant.  Other plant locations include facilities in Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, California, and Georgia.

ADVANCEMENT: Successful Production Supervisors will advance to lead supervisor, superintendent, plant manager, international, or operations coordinators in the Corporate Office. Additional opportunities may exist in different departments, facilities, or subsidiaries. Hormel Foods’ promote-from-within philosophy rewards outstanding performance.

BENEFITS: Hormel Foods offers an excellent benefits package. Competitive base salary plus bonus, annual merit increase performance reviews, medical, dental, vision, non-contributory pension, profit sharing, 401(k), stock purchase plan, and more.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  Preferred candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agri-business, Management, Operations, or Industrial Management (or a related field) with a minimum 2.70 cumulative GPA requirement, and be open to relocation.  Proven leadership, persuasive, initiative, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.  A requirement of this position is to be a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States. Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship or an employment visa.
